The bridge in an Invader, not sure about the neck nor do I know anything about the locks. And the trem is not a Floyd; he does mention it's an Ibanez trem.

That kind of locknut is common on older Floyds/Kahlers. IMO, it's stupid, as it's just more unneccessary points of friction.

:laugh2: The trem is an Ibanez Pro Rocker, stock equipment on most of these. Nothing to see there.

Bridge PUP looks to be an invader, the Neck could be a few things, including a DUncan Iommi, Duncan Silverbird or any number of non-Duncan Pickups, although IIRC the original Humbuckers also had 2 large blades, and he did say "The Rear Humbuckers" ;)

Not to get in a debate, but first off you´re not adding "Unnecessary points of friction", but exactly ONE additional point. Secondly, this friction point (the nut) is NEGLIGIBLE if the guy making the nut has even the least idea what he´s doing....If you have problems after having a new nut made, find a tech that deserves the title. Thirdly, not everyone loves nicking their hands on an OFR locknut after a long slide downwards, a problem this totally alleviates....

So where´s the stupid part? Overstating an argument is the best way to lose it, btw :rolleyes:

Again, you've caught me speaking in absolutives.

If the nut is properly cut, it wouldn't pose a problem at all, and that sliding problem you're talking about I used to have. I'd rather just have a standard locking nut though, as I don't have the hand nicking problem anymore, and I'd rather have the nut and locking portion at one point.

After analyzing it, there's no problem with that way, but if I was making a custom guitar, I'd just keep the standard Floyd nut.

That trem sucks. It's the final thing I'm gonna replace on my RS 530 when I get the cash.

It's just set flush atm with the springs screwed down so it doesn't move. I've got an Ibanez edge I could use, because my RG hasn't been used in months and won't be because I can't afford a re-fret/new neck. I'd rather put a wilkinson on it though :/

oh yea.. the kahler type locking is definately a godsend.. how many times have i scratched my hand on the damn horns of the OFR nut.. i'm gonna file em round one of these days! screw the resale value, Fusion is staying with me till my grave!

oh.. the V.. it looks cheap and wrong somehow

No problem...Although I think I´m starting to come off as a bit uptight in general (that post could have ben worded a bit less harsh, and the comment at the end was unnecessary)......... I get a feeling all this out of work / in the studio/doing too little crap is getting to my head.. Sorry :blackeye:

Davey: I recommend only doing the high E outsiside, and actually just "rounding it" towards the headstock... If you take too much off the locking block may be able to move around, harming tuning stability ;)

But I also just got used to it, maybe you can, too.. In the future you´ll also encounter guitars, even USA Jacksons, where the locknut hangs off the edge minimally (<1mm), so think of it as practice :laugh2:

But if you really want to it´s also no biggie to put a Kahler Lock/ Graphite nut combo on her, either... Schaller locknut: sell it for a few bucks :smoker:

ANother note: Tonally, I feel the Floyd nut is more "even", tonally, with respect to the the fretted notes than any "normal" nut save brass...and it wears forever. Unlike a normal nut which will need to be replaced every so often, a locking nut can easily last decades ;)

That's a weird guitar, from back in the day when Ibanez made clones.

Personally, I think it's pretty cool looking, in a weird way.
Would I own/play it? No, but that's another story ... :)

I have the same nut but with a Floyd, not Kahler, on my Charvel model 4.

And I have never seen an RR body with an Ibanez... woaaa that's cool in a way... though to me unethically correct: RR = Jackson :p

I think that is the old Pro Line series, I had a 'juiced' Ibanez Pro Line Strat in pearl pink I bought in 1985. Washed many dishes to lay the cash out for that sucker. If I recall the neck was great, it was not finished on the back, Had the same trem which worked really nicely actually. It was the step up from the original Roadstar series which I still think are fantastic guitars and look great as well. Very much in the height of Heavy Metal mania that we all loved back in the day.

If you could lay down some RATT licks with that guitar in the shop you would be sure to draw a crowd around you... You were something special when that happened, much like getting high score on Asteroids ( my medium was Star Castle) and getting the fans to surround you... Sometimes life does not get any better than those moments.
