Ibanez guys - fancy an RG with a more traditional neck shape?

New RG to be released at the summer NAMM, the RGV3750D. Loaded with SDs (Stag Mag, SSL2, C5), mahogany body, non-locking zero trem, and a fatter, Fendery neck. Never thought I'd see an RG with the latter - tempting!

Finally!

I like Ibanez as a brand -- and I've owned more than my share -- but super-thin necks on the RGs always drive me away from their flagship guitars. I'll have to give this a look.

I like that it comes with a Stagmag in the neck.

That trem looks cool.

I've always liked the looks of Ibanezes but their necks are always too thin and flat for my tastes. I'm glad to see that they're doing something more vintagey flavored.

Re: Ibanez guys - fancy an RG with a more traditional neck shape?

That is super cool. The thin neck is the one thing that keeps me from the RG line. I realize Ibanez has other lines like Artcore etc. with bigger necks, but I prefer Strat-type bodies first and foremost, and the RG body actually fits me better ergonomically than a Strat body, so it's been a bummer that the necks have been dealbreakers for me.

Until this. I wish it had 22 frets, but maybe that's what the Talman line is for. Judging from the appointments (classy PRS-style translucent knobs), I'm guessing that's a Prestige. I wonder how far down the line the fatter necks will go.

Some years back, Ibanez made the RT line, which was RGs with fatter, Strat-style necks and vintage-style tremolos. I always lamented not being able to get my hands on one, and I'm guessing others feel the same way, hence this new thing. The new bridge looks super-interesting. I feel that Wilkinson makes the best Strat-style vintage tremolo, so I wonder how this compares.

It has a push/pull on the volume knob as well. That bridge makes me a little nervous though. It looks a lot like the older ZR locking trem on the S-models and those had the worst tone ever. They made the right move getting rid of them.

JS series Ibanez guitars have the fat fender neck. I have a JS24P with the fender neck profile.

Neck looks like the one on the SA series I just bought (except for the skunk-stripe). Having said that the Wizard is THE neck for me :D

That and the fact that is says Prestige on the headstock (check the 1st picture :cool2:)

I like it, definitely interesting, like a revamp of the old RT line, which had vintage shaped necks, non-locking trems, and locking tuners.

Appealing to Fender camp while alienating true RG fans; what an ingenious marketing strategy by Ibanez. Reminds of this:

Kinda like offering a Ferrari with monster tires to lure the off-road market. Isn't the super-thin neck (17mm) the reason why people buy RG in the first place?

Not even sure if Fender guys will like it. With the sharp edges RGs are not comfortable to play, definitely not meshing with the body well like Strat.

An argument could be made that yes, people buy the Ibanez RG for a super thin neck. But Ibanez does offer a huge array of guitar styles, with djent sticks and jazzboxes and everything in between. However, they really only have one Strat style guitar, in their Talman line. Why shouldn't they try to step into Fender's market a bit more?

And the analogy of the Ferrari and the monster tires is a poor one. It doesn't allow for the fact that just changing the neck profile of a guitar can allow it to appeal to a completely different audience, whereas the Ferrari would eed to be completely redesigned, chassis and all before it could be an offroader.

Hmm...the last time I checked the Talman resembles a Tele more than a Strat. I thought the RG is the souped-up Strat, no? Guess I need glasses.

Re: Ibanez guys - fancy an RG with a more traditional neck shape?

I'd be very interested in an RG with a double-locking zero trem, a fatter neck, and an ebony fretboard. I also kind of think the Stag Mag/C5 is a weird combination, but that'd be easy to change. With those changes, I'd really want the guitar - do they already have a guitar that I just described?

I meant more from a specifications point of view. They have a Talman with three single coils, a Fenderesque neck, and a maple board.
