Ibanez Lawsuit LP

This shop near me has a Black & Gold 70's Ibanez Lawsuit LP with three humbuckers, the bridge pickup is a Dimarzio Super Dist. So, I'm gassing over it, it was $259.99, how much is a good price for one of those? I'm hoping ya'll could give me some advice on them... plus, I'm kinda of turned off by the middle humbucker, so, if that's not a killer deal, I'll just wait it out for a differant LP... thanks.

Re: Ibanez Lawsuit LP

i tried looking around online for a price for ya but i couldnt find it anywhere. my friend had a guitar with 3 hbs and it got in the way of his pick so he took out the middle one and just like covered it up by puttin masking tape across the hole in the inside. that would be a temporary thing you can do if you want to take it out.

Re: Ibanez Lawsuit LP

set neck or bolt on?

either way, if it feels good, go for it. it's actually a decent price. i love 3 hummers myself.

what exaclty does the 3-hb sound like? On a standard LP 3HB can I get only bridge or only neck? or is it just a 3-way toggle? cuase if I can only get 1-2, 1-2-3 or 2-3, then... I'm gonna have to do some modding to it...

Re: Ibanez Lawsuit LP

Its usually bridge, bridge+middle, and neck.

That's not a bad price for the guitar if its in good shape and you like it.

well, tomorrow, I'll go take a look at it, maybe put it on hold. I'll definately have to re-wire if the selector is like that... I want the Bridge/Neck combo... so, maybe a push/pull pot is in order... :laugh2:

I just realized another problem... my mom said, "after these amps, no more guitars or amps for a while," so... I gotta either do this in secret or talk my parents into it... this will be yet another feat... plus it'll be the rest of my money outside of my savings account... at least until I find another job... I got cut from my last one cuase they kept hiring and cutting hours, and since I was just part time, they cut me....

Yeah I would want neck+bridge too, but that neck+middle combo is cool as well. :)

what does it sound like? it seems like it'd sound like the neck+bridge with a bit more bite, ya know what I mean?

Re: Ibanez Lawsuit LP

Doubt it's a set neck at that price butmost of their screwed together LP's were pretty decent. For $250 if it's in good shape it's worth it of you like it.

Re: Ibanez Lawsuit LP

If it has a curved top, give it a tap to see if it's hollow - some of them were, and they were very prone to feedback. I used to have an Ibanez PF100 which was similar style to an LP - but the pickups and tuners were crap and the top was hollow. A friend of mine had a more exact LP copy by Ibanez (still a bolt-on neck) - it was called a '59er, and that was an awesome guitar.

Just for a laugh, here's me age 18 playing my PF100 :D

A buddy of mine picked up an exact copy ibanez. It was set neck, carved maple top, gibson headstock. It looked exactly like a gibso, even the script on the headstock was the same, the only difference was it said Ibanez intead of gibson. It is a great playing guitar and definatly a worth wile purchase. He picked his up for $350. If this guitar has good features, id say definatly pick it up.

well, that's what this one is... but, I haven't played it. I told myself, "NO!" when I first saw it, but, now I'm drooling over it.

Re: Ibanez Lawsuit LP

I played it. It's the bolt on neck with a hollow spot in the body, but... boy does that thing sound sweet in "treble," the Super Distortion on it is amazing. I played it through a JTM45, and... wow-ie. Although the Middle & Rhythm positions lacked pazzaz... I don't think I'll get it, it just didn't feel too great, ya know? I couldn't really get used to the neck.

Usually 3 hums are, neck mid+bridge, bridge. What I would do though is have a standard LP 3 way switch (neck, neck+bridge, bridge), and have a push pot add the middle pickup to whatever is selected with the 3 way. U get 6 choices that way. I love 3 humbuckers myself. I'll be ordering a custom LP with 3 humbuckers in the winter.

you just gotta check out how the guitar plays - thats the important part. Is the action low? Does it sustain fine? Other than that I'd probably get it if its in good condition

I'm not getting it for two reasons... it's action just doesn't speak to me and the hardware is all faded to regular chrome, so, it's not as breathe taking as I'm hoping to get my Les Paul. So, now I guess I'm saving up for a Mustang Bass and a Les Paul Custom....
