I'm looking for distortion pedal projected in the 80's with a lot of gain like boss metal zone, but not that fizzy. I was thinking about Ibanez SM-09/MAXON SM-01 or Maxon SM-9 pro+. They say that new Maxon is reissue. How it sounds compared to old ones? I like YT demo with Metal Mike. Sounds nasty!! Do you have any recomendations or good tips? I want to have late 80's/early 90's walls crushing distortion sound, but I like the old 80's methods to get it. I know that the best way is hi gain tube amp + overdrive, but I play gigs often and very often the amps aren't very good so I need to have my sound in small pedal.
