Ibanez or Jackson ?

Re: Ibanez or Jackson ?

Jackson has settled on lighter woods mostly at the behest of their customers who were scrawny little crackheads like Lynch and Warren D who couldn't bear the weight of an LP back when Jackson was starting out.

Plus you get a more balanced tone than with temperamental woods like mahogany.

Not to mention Alder, Poplar, and Basswood is like a nickel a ton compared to mahogany.

And don't forget, Cedar (Cedro) is part of the mahogany family. Agathis is like waaaaay down the list as well. It's like the Special Needs Child of the tonewood world, right above pine and plywood.

The warrior balances much better than the xiphos if that matters to you at all.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson ?

Many guitarists hate on ALDER but when it's part of the "right" music making axe, the tone couldn't be more balanced.

LOL

Actually, both of these were great playing guitars but suffered from sheer lack of tonal presence even though they had all kinds of stage presence. I had a RR5 also and for some reason, that weighed the most and hence had the best tone of the three. A USA Kelly I had a few years ago was a decent sounding guitar. I think Jackson's are hit or miss just like any other brand

Re: Ibanez or Jackson ?

In my humble opinion:

JACKSON=METAL & IBANEZ=GAY

Paul Gilbert begs to disagree bro.

and who played jackson?

Kirk Hammett.

seriously though, its a preference thing. my suggestion is to try really hard to play both.

i mean... anything can look good, on paper.

Um THIS PAUL GILBERT???

Jackson players often are 100% METAL bands, slayers like: Randy Rhoads, Lamb of God, Kreator, Lizzy borden, Obituary, Six Feet Under, Slipknot, etc.

When I see an Ibanez I think of Steve Vai. . . great guitarist. . . but he doesn't scream METAL

again . . my Humble two cents worth.

Paul gilbert shreds. . . I just think he would look more METAL if he played Jackson...

To each his own I guess. . .

Story is Randy Rhoads only took two guitars to heaven, his prized Les Paul and his super killer Jackson Signature model . . . I'm just sayin.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson ?

IMO, alder+certain duncans= METAL. Which also = JACKSON

I'd go with the Jackson. I had a Japanese Kelly that was great.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson ?

I've stayed out of this because of the body-style in question.........but the major differences to me is in the neck........Jackson's feel wider over Ibanez's...they play better for me..........it' six to one........a half-dozen to another.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson ?

Since when is Paul Gilber even remotely metal? That´s like saying Meshuggah are euro-pop....:laugh2:

I agree 100%.

are you serious?

on sharpnel records...

Re: Ibanez or Jackson ?

I'm curious about your memory laspe........How can one think of Paul Gilbert and NOT think about Racer-X!?

Re: Ibanez or Jackson ?

OK,........I give you that......wasn't a fan either.........I just knew about the connection........listening to a few songs.........and hung them up. There's "fast"...........and there's "good"...........when a guitarist puts the two together..............it's "OMG How do do that on my our gear!"
