Both are 7-string, premiums, 25.5" scale, identical neck geometry, identical tremolo bridge. Basically those two guitars must be very similar sounding.

Cons of RG927QMZ :
- Only has two pups, and those are IBZ pups, which are not top-notch
- lacks the titanium neck reinforcement rods

Pros of RG927QMZ :
- no artist signature, feels/looks more original and classy
- bound fretboard
- ZPS, Switchable To Floating Trem, Manually Adjustable Spring System

Cons of UV70p :
- Vai model, lack of originality
- no bound fretboard,
- lack of ZPS, Switchable To Floating Trem, Manually Adjustable Spring System

Pros of UV70p :
- has 3 DMZ Blaze pups
- titanium neck reinforcement rods, possibly great sustain

Watcha guys say? I am in GAS for a 7-stringer!

I'd pick the cheaper one and mod the **** out of it. I have an RG920 from the first runs when they still had titanium rods. Just a gimmick, if you ask me.

Thanx, the reason i wanna settle down with quality instruments, is because i am sick and tired with mods, and i have done anything you can imagine except building a guitar from bare wood.
If i end up with the HSH UV70p, my strat and its quack will not be necessary any more, so one guitar comes, one goes. My aim is to minimize the number of my guitars, (even if that means, buying more :)). Also the floating floyd Carvin could go as well. I could settle with 3 good do-it-all guitars, instead of 5. My current arsenal consists of :
- heavily modded Aria Strat, got it new in 1984, can do anything from rock, surf, to thrash metal
- Kramer 210, SD livewires, floyd rose II, a 80s classic, non modded but had to change all the electronics after 24 years of ownership, setup, maintained, fret dressed by me
- Carvin DC135, heavily modded from LH->RH, floyd rose
- Ibanez ARZ800, stock

PS
By "gimmick" are you referring to the titanium rods, (i guess) or the guitar?

The red one has Dimarzio/IBZ pickups. Those are made by Dimarzio in the USA specifically for Ibanez.

UV70p all the way for me.

I played some 7 string jackson the other day. Man it was nice as pudding.

I wonder what model it was haha

I like the idea of having a guitar with titanium in the neck Thin necks are more prone to warping and titanium would dramatically increase the rigidity of it. Plus dimarizio pups and green goodies. The black is a bit over done but still i would own it.

importing from USA is a pita. + i like the stability of the Ibbys. My Carvin sounds great, buts makes me go and take the tools out every week or so.
I tried a 7-string mid-range Dean, at a price around 600 euros and it was in a heavily bad condition. And this is the only 7-stringer i found in whole Greece. Go figure!

Actually i wouldn't get the vai 7 string because i recall him saying he started using it because he heard KORN on the radio. ****n korn ffs **** **** ****

That's strange, considering that the Universe was developed before KoRn was formed.

that's true, i had touched the original 7-string universe of a friend of mine (and ULTRA GREAT virtuoso) back in 1991. Korn were formed in 1993 i think.

Greek-Arabian one. A legend in his time in my school. He could nail any guitarist anywhere. Fantastic and ultra original right hand fretting technique, besides left hand fretting. Many levels beyond complicated tapping. He also (being in the math dept) had invented an algebra on guitar fretboards. Fantastic player, scientist and friend. Oh and all that with only 4 years of guitar practicing. Original he was a piano player, besides playing Sax/Clarinet as well!!! Eventually, he forgot his Universe in a taxi, took a second one, lost the second as well, and now he plays piano in a Jazz band, and giving piano lessons. A great talent.

Actually i might be a bit confused, It did happen but he was just saying how he instantly reconized the sound of a distorted 7 string. Still he did pull the car over and stop on the highway to listen to korn haha.

Yeah get the vai guitar lol
