Ibanez RGT42/neck-thru

First off, can anyone tell me for sure what kind of wood Ibanez used for the wings on the RGT42 in 2003?

Secondly, what's the general concensus on how much affect the "body" wood has on a neck-thru? I've always been under the impression that the neck material (in this case maple/walnut) is what actually matters on a neck-thru.

Well i don't know the guitar ,but the body material in a neck-thru guitar is really important.
For Example Jackson King V Alder and King V Maple are both Neck.Thru but sund totally different!

ZAKKLY!

I was just gonna post, I cannot stand your typical Jackson with alder wings but I've played the mahogany body SL1s and its a much different (better, IMO) sound...fuller..fatter.

Re: Ibanez RGT42/neck-thru

Its made out of basswood. I've played a bunch of different neck thru guitars and I think the body wood really effects the tone. i wouldnt get the rgt42 becuase because it uses an edge pro II trem.

Re: Ibanez RGT42/neck-thru

I've already got one. The trem thing isn't that huge an issue to me.... if this one craps out, I'll just block it, or get some minor routing done and replace it with an Edge. To be honest, I got it second hand with no bar, I still have yet to obtain one, so it's gonna be awhile before there are any problems.

I wanted to see if I was just being paranoid or something, but I had a Charvel Model 6 (neck-thru with poplar wings), and the Ibanez sounds a crapload better.
