Ibanez S421... good or bad guitar?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Ibanez S421... good or bad?

I believe it's made in Indonesia, but I'm not sure if that's bad news.

I haven't tried one yet.

I like that it's mahogany, dual humbuckers, string through body with no tremolo, angled headstock, and that all the tuners are on the same side (a weird quirk of mine).

I have 7 string S7420 (Indonesian) and it's very well made/sounds awesome/great finish/tremolo/ hardware..I even like the pickups. I imagine the 421 will be the same quality.

I also have an old S540 Ltd from 1994 which is MIJ and frankly can't tell the difference between them (Japanese/Indonesian) build-quality/finish wise except that the S540 Ltd has neck binding & the 7 string does'nt..

I've got a few S-series guitars, and they are great. The INF1/INF2 are not my favorite pickups, but they get the job done.

Is this a set neck or bolt-on?

I have an Indonesian RG that's perfectly good. I agree about the pick-ups though, they're not great.

It'll be fairly thin mahogany. Make sure you try it out, Ibanez necks can feel odd if you're not used to them. The MH321 is the same thing with an RG body. The pickups will need to be changed.

S body with fixed bridge? That's good to me. I wish they offered S series with Tight End R bridge though.

Ibanes S series are top notch guitars. You must get used to them bcs it has thin body with fat neck.

Tried out the S421 at Guitar Center and I think it's a very good guitar. However, I'd rather have a Custom/Jazz setup instead of the stock pickups.
