Well, since there are posts deleted I don't get to see the whole thing here, but concerning the sD-1, yes they are basiclly the same circuit as the tube screamer ... some of the differences that come to mind are a third transitor in the flip-flop array in the TS, a few different value caps throughout, different input and output impedances, of course the whole symmetrical vs. asymmetrical clipping thing, the physical switch system, if memory serves correctly the AC adaptor system is a bit different,different transitors throughout ... of course this doesn't count all the strange variations that always seem to happen on production line stuff anyway (like one month they stuck in another chip). Conceptually the SD-1 and TS the same in their design, but there are still variations. Personally, money wise, I would go with a SD-1 over the tS any day, as it's made a bit better in certain ways (structually, especially in regard to the original type switch that the TS had);
one further note, the 808's had a different output impedance than the 9's (not sure of the others) ... the 808's were a bit better at driving the input of a tube amp for this reason. I can see why someone would say they are basically the same, and they are ... but there are still differences that make them to different animals ...did that make any sense? Oh, well ... a TS can be a SD-1, and a SD-1 can be a TS if desired. Hey John, out of curiosity have you messed with the OD-3 overdrive at all? Any opinions on it stock?
