Ibanez ts-808 question

what exactly does this pedal do to your tone? Do you use it on clean channel as distortion or to boost your gain chanel? I like heavy metal tones so would this be good?

It boosts your mid's a bit i believe. For metal you could use it to boost an already distorted sound for like a solo.

I use mine for a light distortion when strumming.

Lots o peeps use em as a boost/eq filter for their distortion. I personally don't like the way it sounds too much if I'm goin for a real heavy tone. Some people swear by em though.

Tube screamers must be good for metal, as my lil cousin use TWO of 'em in his chain !

He is in a "melodic" metal band (huh?) and his 'complete chain' looks like this :

Ibanez RG121 Prestige -->TS9 -->TS9 -->MXR 10Band EQ --> Peavey 5150 Comb0 (60W, 2x12)

I'm not into metal to be honest, but he has got some seriously good tone !

The 808 use's a JRC4558 op amp and has 2 resistors w/t different value's. That's basically to 808 mod for a TS-9.
