Ibanez TS9...good deal or bad deal?

A guy I know is selling a good condition early 90s Ibanez TS9 for $140. New models are much cheaper...am I getting ripped off or are that era models much better?

Re: Ibanez TS9...good deal or bad deal?

There is nothing special about an early 90's TS9. Buy a new one. I would be embarrassed to ask 140 for that pedal even if it was in mint condition.

Re: Ibanez TS9...good deal or bad deal?

If an Ibanez TS-9 was made in the '90s, it's a reissue. Analog Man offers some great Tube Screamer history here.

Or a random used reissue. Anything but the overpriced one you're looking at.

Re: Ibanez TS9...good deal or bad deal?

I recommend the visual sound drivetrain. It's not a ts copy but I think it sounds better.

Re: Ibanez TS9...good deal or bad deal?

Get a new one. They all basically do the same thing. If all you're looking for is being able to give some boost, a new one or even a used one on CL, GC, or Ebay will suffice. You could be saving loads of money right now by disregarding this deal.

Awesome!

Thanks for the replies everybody. He is a decent guy but some people have no clue how to value their own gear when selling it. Looks like I'll pass.

I would have wait a bit longer to post this thread in the right room.
