Ibanez Tubescreamer???

Re: Ibanez Tubescreamer???

The 808 and 9 series is still overpriced, no matter how you look at it.

I'll say, and damn over-hyped. I used to have a modded TS9-DX and while it was a okay sounding unit, it didn't seem to justify the $170 used price tag I bought it for with all of the other options on the market. Two years later I put up for sale on ebay and it unbelievably sold for over $250!!! While I was rejoicing in my profit margin I felt sorry for the sucker who had the highest bid. What made it worse is that I had to meet the guy in person for cash on delivery and tell him why I ended up selling it.

Well, I've heard that the DX was NOT an improvement. The extra circuits seemed to take away from the beauty of the original TS circuit.

Quite possibly so, but it just shows how much hype there is surrounding anything with TS-9 in the title.

To my ears the DX is a sound very much like the original TS, but not dead on. However, in return, you get more flexibility and more range.

Modified I think it gets a little closer to the original and a little more focused.

I tend to think of it more as a next-generation sort of sound for the TS.
