Ibanez wood issues?

Okay, this is my 1991 Ibanez 540s. It does metal really well and I'm happy with the resonance and sound, but I'm a little disappointed now that I've realized something. I wanted to put a hum cancelling single coil in the neck and in order to do so I needed to route out some wood to make space for the wiring. Now that the shielding paint is gone I'm noticing two different colored woods in my guitar. It is suppose to be all mahogany but it looks like only half of my guitar is mahogany and the other half is something else. In the picture you can see that half of the wood is a darker wood and the other half is something lighter.

What do you guys think? Have you ever experienced this before?

I've seen it in guitar bodies made of multiple pieces- that's why they paint it or call it paint grade. It's likely a lighter and darker piece of mahogany

Okay, I didn't know mahogany came in differnt colors. Like I said, it sounds great, but if it's different woods I'm a little disappointed.

I made my tongue drum out of mahogany. I had to hand pick the wood because of the various dark and light colors of the wood. Nothing to worry about bro....relax.

A quick google search to show the range of colours:

HOLY CRAP AN IBANEZ NOT MADE OUT OF BASSWOOD!? I know I'm exaggerating but still, I freaking hate basswood. I wouldn't worry about this problem by the way, if the guitar sounds great then who cares?

Re: Ibanez wood issues?

Both shade can be mahogany. Mahogany is a huge family of woods coming in varieties of colors, grains and sound properties.
