I had the great honor of meeting Seymour Duncan in person in the mid 90's at a Vintage Guitar show in the Bay area- San Jose to be specific. He had a booth and was actually winding pickups while he was there. My friend that was with me talked me into asking him if he'd rewind a set of strat pickups for me. He was totally cool and said he would. When I gave him the set he looked at the bobbins and didn't care for them so he wound me a new set with bobbins he had on hand. I used them until I sold the guitar ( it was a middle of the road strat copy) at which time I took them out. I have not used them since and as I was young and not likely to have had good tone taste yet I don't have an idea what they sound like. I do know the bridge measures 6.3 ohms, and the middle and neck measure 6.1 ohms.
On the bottom of the staggered pole bobbins the following is stamped
SD 2 92 on two of the bobbins and SD 2 89 on the other.
I am guessing SD is for Seymour Duncan and the 92 / 89 are the year made. I am wondering if the 2 is indicating alnico II. Seymour asked me what sound I was looking for and I think I said something stratty but maybe a little warmer... I think.
Sorry for the long story, bottom line is I am trying to figure out what I have, aside from a set of pickups hand wound for me by the master!
Any guesses would be appreciated!
Thanks as always.
