Ideas for my dream guitar from Warmoth parts

Ok I want a Flying V but something a bit different than a Gibson....

White mahogany '67 style Flying V body
-Two Hums, one vol, one tone, two way switch
-Tune-O-Matic with stop tailpiece
Maple/Maple neck with Explorer headstock, jumbo stainless frets, 1 11/16 Corian nut
-Sperzel or Schaller locking tuners
-Satin finish

That's what I'm thinking about doing, sounds perfect for me. I have the maple neck of a shredder axe, and the mahogany body, two hums and the Tune-O-Matic of a Gibson. I'm hoping the maple neck won't add too much brightness because I love the look and feel of it. I'm going for a Mercyful Fate/Slayer/Kreator/Morbid Angel type middy sound with honking nasal leads like Michael Denner and Michael Schenker get. I haven't decided on the pickups. Which tuners are better, Schallers or Sperzels??? I hate regular tuners so I'm definitely getting locking ones.

Sound like an awesome idea! If it were my dream guitar I would just change the body to a Rhoads V... As for the tuners, I've owned both of them and they are both very good, I've had better lucky with the Sperzel's and will soon be putting a set of them on my strat, so those are the ones I would suggest.

yeah,get a rhoadsnad maybe make it H-H-H to have the maximum variety of tone.

Actually, I am soon going to refinish my Gibson V with Reranch Nitro. I am thinking about going with a Diamond plate pickguard and 3 Bill lawrence buckers. Or, something else harsh!!!!

go for the rhoads V and sick a CC and a JazzN in that thing and I think you will be happy, I would suggest locking tuners and a origional floyd or kahler trem.

Nothing against warmoth as I've bought bodies from them and other parts, but for a V, I'd buy the neck thru neck from Carvin, Then you'll only need a piece of wood to do the wings.. Glue it on, finish out the headstock or buy the V headstock with the neck from Carvin.. Install the Pups and Tone / Volume controls, the Bridge and Tail piece or Floyd or whatever you want to use and you're in business.. Plus with the neck thru you'll get a much better sustain and tone over all.. Neck thru guitars sound so good to me.. and you can get the neck to body attachment sanded down so that it's really easy to get to the last few frets.. I called Carvin as I'm thinking of Building one myself and they will even sell you a neck made of Mahogany with Maple board, or Maple Neck with Maple board or Ebony board, etc.. Under 225.00.. If you already have the bridge and pups, your about there.. You can buy the wood for the wings anywhere from 25 bucks to 75 bucks.. If you use Maple as the neck then I'd use either Mahogany or Basswood or Swamp ash for the body wings, but just my personal preference,.. I say this as Maple is bright, but it sounds great with a mahogany body.. For instance Zakk's guitar is mahogany with a maple top for the body and a Maple neck with an Ebony board.. I think it's a perfect combo almost.. I personally like Maple necks and boards, but just a personal preference.. or Mahogany necks with Ebony boards and Mahogany or Basswood bodies.. They just rip with pickups like the duncan JB, 59 or Distortion in the bridge in my humble opion..I've been playing now for almost 28 years.. God I'm getting old..hehe..

Stay away from the pre-cut nut, I had one done and it was no good, the high E popped out of its slot every time I bent even half a step. And they wouldn't give me a credit for it. Have a good luthier cut you a bone nut. Theirs is a waste of money.

Let me tell you this..a maple neck AND a maple fingerboard AND SS frets will make that guitar quite a bit brighter that a normal V...add to that the bolt on neck (which will also make it a bit brighter), and you're gonna get a pretty bright guitar.
