Ideas to de-metal-ify my Jack'o

Snoogles

Cranky-dologist
mocked up a pair of zebra humbuckers. i don't think cream rings would go particularly well. and chrome rings are just too ostentatious.
ideally i'd like to switch out the black tuning machines, and tremolo arm for chrome
also, i think i'm going to switch out the black knobs for chrome as well

Zebra buckers are a good start. You might be able to pull off the cream rings.
Consider speed knobs or top hats.
I don't know what to do with the bridge and arm. Maybe go all chrome.
Chrome or nickel tuners.
Chrome or nickel strap buttons or locks.
Cream switch tip.

No hope for de-metalizing that one. Even if you go to nickel hardware, covered pickups, and plastic knobs, it has Butt Rock/Ass Metal written all over it, and always will. Just embrace it, man!!! It's a good looking AXE!

I was going to say this exactly :D

Re: Ideas to de-metal-ify my Jack'o

Even with Zebra pups it still screams METUULLLLZZZ to me . . . but I have a Jackson with a Zebra '59 in the neck so I'm a bit biased to having/liking Zebra pups in metal guitars! DO IT DUDE!!!

No need for class when you're playing a Jackson! :naughty:

Re: Ideas to de-metal-ify my Jack'o

I love Zebras but that guitar is fine just as it is. To me it says Fusion as well as Metal. So I don't think it needs anything.

Re: Ideas to de-metal-ify my Jack'o

As long as that bar is installed, it'll look metal-ish...

Zebra pickups could maybe look less metal; chrome humbucker covers would look way less metal though.

Re: Ideas to de-metal-ify my Jack'o

Nickel covers on the pups would make it look less metal IMO. But I've told you before, that guitar looks awesome as it is!

Re: Ideas to de-metal-ify my Jack'o

The only way to de-metal-ify that axe is to sell it and get something else.

Those Jacksons scream metal, and that's okay. It's kinda their thing.

Re: Ideas to de-metal-ify my Jack'o

I assume you had no takers for it at a decent price, same as me with my RR5. :(

Re: Ideas to de-metal-ify my Jack'o

i think this would be your cheapest option. put chrome covers, tuners, knobs, trem bar and call it finished.
