If I dsimantle my axe and leave it overnight...

...the neck won't have warped by tomorrow will it? I've got to take the neck and bridge off one of my seven string guitars, so that I can enlarge the pickup cavities to take some new pickups.

Given that I'm having to work late a lot at the moment, and I can't get the powertools out to late, I was entertaining the idea of dismantling the guitar and marking it up tonight, so that I can get the rotozip on it as soon as I get home tomorrow.

This won't cause any problems will it?

It shouldn't cause any problems at all. I've heard stories of people taking the neck off, and it's never the same after that, but i'm convinced that the neck was screwy before hand. It should be fine unless there is some adverse condition that you're not telling us... like storing the neck in a bucket of salt water or somthing.

Thanks for getting back so quick. I'll go and do the deed now - hopefully I should have the 707s in tomorrow evening

Hmmm ... well ... one of my necks has been off the guitar for oh ... over 4 months and it hasn't changed since I adjusted the truss after initially removing the neck. I had planned on reattaching it prior to when I tleave town ... but that ain't happening anytime soon

Re: If I dsimantle my axe and leave it overnight...

You might have to adjust the truss rod, but no serious problems.

Re: If I dsimantle my axe and leave it overnight...

I had mine off my guitar for about 2 months while we did some work to the body.... only needed a truss rod adjustment (which I think it needed beofre coming off anyway)

You'll be fine. I've had the strings and necks off my strats for several days at a time before and noticed no adverse effects.
