Strats are comfy with the belly cut and relief for your forearm.

Re: If you could only have ONE guitar body style, which would it be and why?

I don't know if it's the aesthetics, feel or the history of rock Gods using them, but I've always dug the Les Paul body shape. Nothing screams rock like an LP.

Re: If you could only have ONE guitar body style, which would it be and why?

Les Paul would be my favorite, but if I had to live with only 1, it'd be the SG. Light and super easy to play.

Re: If you could only have ONE guitar body style, which would it be and why?

Can't say it's my favourite style visually, but the old PRS Custom's (22/24). Probably the most comfortable body design ever. The problemk is that only ones I've ever been able to try out had the Wide-Fat neck which my hands hate.

Other than that I've got a guitar in the works that is designed for my body and playing style that I like the looks and ergonomics of.

Re: If you could only have ONE guitar body style, which would it be and why?

Visually, Les Pauls are top. But to be honest, I prefer PLAYING a nice superstrat. It feels nicer and you can reach the top frets easier.

Re: If you could only have ONE guitar body style, which would it be and why?

For some reason the way the PRS Custom 24 body sits on one's lap bothers me. Hanging I love it though. It has to do with the waists and the overall length of the body.

I like the overall Stratocaster style bodies, some more than others, but in that general vein for sure. I love the Ibanez Saber and Radius bodies, but if you want me to get terribly snobby, if I had to have one single body style, it's not in current production. Think Parker Dragonfly meets Saber meets Decibel Javelin.

I hate myself for voting this way, but I have to go Strat. I own three Gibsons, and they are my favorite. But, if I could only have one guitar, I would pick the strat. It's just so damn versatile. A few mods, and I'm right there at home. In the past, for tours, when I've travelled by plane and could only take 1 guitar, my strat was the one who got the call.

I'd go with my SuperTele because it has some great features that make it practical and comfortable. Lightweight Ash body, oiled maple neck, Tele shape with tummy cut and forearm contour ala Strat, H/S/S and Floyd = awesome.

+1. :friday: It's the look, the feel, the tone, the sustain, the weight. It's both a sledgehammer and a scalpel. I'm always inspiried when I play an LP.

Stratocaster every time for me.....Cool looking and comfy! My versatile go to axe forever also..Next would be the SG...

I also am disappointed to see this rambling, incoherent post. He goes on for pages talking gibberish. Perhaps he's suffered a recent blow to the head? He's not making any sense. He seemed like such a nice young man. I thought the guy had it together, and then this...:14: The one ray of sanity is that is that he says 'I hate myself for voting this way' so there must have been a lucid moment or two. Then I suspect he blacked out, babbled on at the keyboard while hallucinating, and woke up on the floor with a headache and his pants around his ankles. It's not a pretty picture I'm afraid.

Phil, baby, say it ain't so.

Cocaine is one hell of a drug.

I did wake up with a headache and my pants around my ankles this morning, but it wasn't a guitar related incident.

Hey now, you have to take the question into account. ONE body style.

Usually, when I play shows, I can bring at least 3 electrics, and 1 acoustic. When that's the case, my Les Paul is the #1 guitar I'll use for the night. Next up will either be the Gretsch Powerjet or (recently) the ES339. The strat might get used for 2 songs or so.

With that said, if I can only have 1, the strat covers more bases. The Gibsons do what they do better; hands down, no contest. They are better guitars. But they tend to be more geared towards one specific sound. The strat is a whore. A dirty dirty whore. My Gibsons are named after people I know, some I respect, some that have passed. My strat is called Candy, aus she's a good time, will do anything you ask her to do even if she's not very good at it, doesn't look pretty, and is the type of guitar you'll play with in a dirty bar, but won't bring somewhere classy.

I didn't say it was my favorite; or I'd have 3 of those. But, if I can only have 1.... it seems to be the one.

Telecaster.

It can do rock:

It can do jazz:

It can do blues:

It can do metal:

V

Specifically the "Offset V" Jackson Rhoads and ESP SV/Alexi styles, though the "Flying V" styles of the ESP Ninja, Schecter Hellraiser V and Jackson King V also have a place in my heart!

Great balance, lightweight, very resonant, hang comfortably for playing and you can still rock them sitting down. Granted, they might get some odd glances if played in a jazz club, but they're perfect for everything rock and metal!

Les Paul

Superstrat for me, there is so many options under the umbrella of "Superstrat"

Hybrid/p90/Crazy 8 w/ coil splits = awesome.
