If you could only have one pedal

Re: If you could only have one pedal

Tough one. I've gone back to vintage/medium output pickups, so I do need a boost and thus will keep my Whiteface Rat. I would really miss my Empress Tape Delay though.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

Hmm. Tough call. I don't have a lot of pedals anymore and use only a few and sometimes none at all.

I think for overall purpose and usefulness, I would choose a compressor. I have a Boss CS-3 now and it's working quite well so far.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

MXR Wylde Overdrive. I've got an OCD & a Soul Food, and they're great, but they don't make an amp snarl like the Wylde.

Edit: Then again I do use my Boss DD-6 quite a bit, hmm, now I'm not sure which to pick.

Edit 2: DD-6

If I couldn't for some unimaginable reason, have all the others, it would be that Twin Tube Mayhem in the middle. I could easily make that work by itself because it combines tube distortion with a boost. It sounds fantastic in front of tubes and makes a good solid state sound like a hybrid. I'd love to try it in front of a Microterror.

My Boss EQ 20 is the obvious pick for me , tone shaping with a boost built into it. Not to mention 10 EQ presets you can switch.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

Of what I have now, it would be my Boss DD-20. Picking widly from the great blue yonder, it would likely be a Strymon equivalent of that.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

probably a tube screamer of sorts. I like my green rhino a lot. also love the hardwire cm2. such a sleeper pedal. probably that one.

Re: If you could only have one pedal

Love the SD-1 and all bluesbreaker derivatives, but if I could have only one it would be an analog delay pedal with a single transistor boost/buffer running off of a charge pump a/k/a a deluxe memory man or carbon copy at ~23v with an echoplex preamp.
