Take a look under the pickguard. Anything under five years old, you should find a rout big enough to accept a Fender Wide Range humbucker. (Some even cavities extend to where a middle position single coil would go.)
IMO, the stock MIM pickups leave much to be desired. A Vintage Stack STK-T1n would kill several birds with one stone. With high gain and the guitar's tone control rolled right down, you would get a rockin' P90-like lead sound. An SM-1n mini humbucker or a Filter'Tron style pickup is another smart option.
