Does it have to be a famous guy's guitar? I'd go back to 1976 and steal the neigbor guy's NR FIrebird, or at least pick it out of the trash when he broke the neck off it and then TOSSED IT IN THE GARBAGE... That and go back and actually buy the Vox Bulldog I couldn't come up with the $ for in 1988 (They wanted $300, and they go for almost 10X that now so even if it was a POS I'd be able to sell it...)

I've never really wanted another person's guitar, be it because it was cool or because it was his, the closest thing though would be Criss Oliva's ESP i.e the "Gargoyle Guitar" but mainly because if there'd be even a cold day in hell's chance of me sounding even remotely like the guy did, I'd take it. Most expressive player I've ever heard and the only guy whose very playing has stirred actual emotions in me.
(with his student and bandmate Chris Caffery being a somewhat close approximation, and don't get me wrong, the guy is a stupendous player but he's not quite the same).

I'd go forward to the 27th century and get an instrument that could morph into any guitar/amp combo that I could imagine plus interact with my mind and help me to flawlessly produce any sound and composition that I could imagine.

I sure would love to travel back in time, in a Silver Machine, to collect some of David Brock's fabulous guitars...for sure.;)

I would grab Eric Clapton's guitar and before I go out, I would ask him to sign the guitar, play a song, and grab the guitar once more. Such a classic and timeless talent!

Johnny cash's esquire or more realistically any t-style guitar with a 1"+ neck. Maybe one of those guilds SRV used because those had awesome necks.

Sure you can scoot on a thin neck but few things are more comfortable to play than a baseball bat thick neck.
