I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

Very cool man!

I had to chuckle at the seller's comment about Van Halen covers being "lame" but for some reason punk, metal-core, and grind are NOT lame. Go figure... ;)

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

I love when someone selling one of these things makes a comment about their "Block letter model" sounds so much better than the signature model or 6505 of today.....do some research, there is no difference!

Nice amp, nice price!

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

"The original block letter amps also sound a million times better than their later brothers (signature series, 6505)."

I Lol'd.

Yeah I love how people will say that when Peavey has done almost nothing but stress the opposite lately. I've played 'em both. They sound exactly the same.

Seriously... sometimes I think guitarists are a such a stupid lot of protoplasm. :laugh2: Some of the superstition, gossip and myths surrounding gear are worse than anything a high school clique could produce.

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

Oh yes... congratulations on your purchase, Jacob!!! Wellcome to the world of tubes. You will find yourself spoiled by good tone in no time. :D

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

I didn't care about the blockletter per say, I cared about the 710$ for a 5150 with new tubes!

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

Nowhere in the auction does it say that the cat isn't an included accessory. I would demand that he ship the cat (humanely) to you if it's not in the same box with the amp. :9:

Congrats on a fine amp choice. You may just find yourself saying "h&who?" one day...

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

I was soooo close to getting a 5150 2x12 combo myself but opted for my Sovereign in the end.
Nonetheless 5150s are killer amps for anything metal and that price is great.
Are you gonna use it as a full stack with both the H&K and Marshall cabs or just the marshall?
Your playing style still requers you to try an Engl Blackmore at some point.

No idea, I'll be trying it on both cabs seperately first. I have no idea what to expect.

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

Too funny.
I was looking at that very auction when you got it.
I was curious as I'm actually *in* Raleigh.

Good luck with it.

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

I remember being in Daytona for "Biketoberfest" in '01 and I heard this band on Main street cranked loudly playing "Dazed and Confussed". The guitar tone was killer, it just growled! I had to go in to see what he was playing thru. He had three heads thru Marshall cabinets. I've wanted to try one ever since! I would have probably bought that one if I had seen it! Alot of bang for the buck!

Congrats again!

Re: I'm A Tube Man Now!!!!!

That's cool that it has all new JJ's, so that's one thing you don't have to think about. You can always buy a set of Chicken Head knobs on Ebay or a store.
As a matter of fact, go to a Peavey dealer and order the knobs and plastic vent.
Peavey spare parts are pretty cheap.

I'd also pull the chassis out and clean the whole amp top to bottom.

I was just in Garner today. I drove right through your stomping grounds today. I slept in Garner overnight as a matter of fact. We're gonna have to grab a beer sometime.
