I'm building a unique guitar...Pickup suggestions requested

Re: I'm building a unique guitar...Pickup suggestions requested

Elias, we need more info. You say you play mostly chords and clean, but we need more info on the "character" and tone curve you are looking for. Could you be a bit more descriptive?

[Guys - stop bagging the build - he made what he made, let's get it equipped!]

Elias - interesting guitar no doubt. Why don't you make a post in the guitar room. This guitar (love or hate the idea) certainly warrants some discussion. Would love a thread on the why/hows and pro/cons about it.

Like I said earlier, I'm generally happy with my tele and that minibucker is the only humbucker I've ever liked, but even that one can sound a little muffled right after switching from that bridge pickup.
The split coil sounds from the SM3 are particularly nice, though a clean boost is essential to keep output high enough.

I like stuff fairly bright, clear, articulate and a little twangy.

As far as the build goes, it's all documented here if anyone is interested.

It's not really something up for discussion. I'll be happy to answer quesions about it but ive been working on this design for a while and the concepts behind it are all proven to my satisfaction.

Sorry I can't really help with your question, but that Tele looks amazing. Nice job, dude. :beerchug:

Thank you. Many of the ideas I'm building into the new one were first tried on that tele. That sucker is nearly completely hollow inside except for right under the bridge.
It's a seven pound monster.

An update. I have found pickups!
Check these guys out. Their YouTube page has some great vids. The acoustic and tele versions are my favorites so far but I worked out a deal to get the first p90s when they're ready.
