I'm eating my words

For as long as I can remember, I had given up on the speaker search. I found the Governor and Wizard combo and stopped looking. But I heard my amp through a different cab when it was at the shop, and I thought, "Seriously? It can do that?" That was a G12T75 loaded 4x12, but it opened my mind back up to the possibility that I might be due for a speaker change.

I picked up a WGS Green Beret from a forum brother, and I bought a new one at the same time for my 2x12. Today was the first time in a long while I was able to open the amp up, and there it was. I think I'm a Greenback convert. I had to _slightly_ adjust the EQ, adding just a touch more mids, and I went back to my MXR GT-OD (ZW44 on a switch) from my SD1 with Monte Allums GT mod, but it was all the things I love about Marshallesque tones with none of the things I hate about EL84s.

I needed this today.

The g12m is the first designed for heavy guitar speaker if ya think about it.

They are finnicky, but when they are in the zone, they are tough to beat.

Edit- hoping all is well ....considering your last sentence.

Glad you found a killer combo! Everytime I read these speaker threads, I wonder what I might be missing with running my stuff as is. The speaker change I made in my PV classic 30 made it a diff amp. But, I keep hearing that the stock speakers Im running are supposed to be very good.. I have Carvins british series in the Carvin 4x12 (rarely used anymore), I have Splawn Smallblocks ( I believe in the Splawn cab). The cab I use the most now is my 2x12. Cant think of the brand right now.. Its a good cab. Speakers are gt75s I think..
