I have heard of these amps, but have never thought to try one. When I took the Mesa back to GC I was gonna let them ship it off for repair. My buddy was with me and was in "The Vault" at the GC and the only amp that had a cord plugged in was this one. Since he is mainly an acoustic player he asked me to try the electric he was looking at. The rest is history. I told the sales dude that I would be taking this amp...............
It's features:
2x12
50 watts
EL34/6L6 Switchable
"Class A" or A/B switchable
Tube/SS recitier Switchable
Footswitchable EQ section
Parallel Effects loop
also all kinds of other tone shaping buttons and switcheroos (that I don't even claim to understand yet).
All that know me know that I like Fender cleans and basic/simple amps. I guess that's why it so crazy for me to buy this sort of modern amp. I gotta be honest though..... I bought cause it is an absolute tone monster!! It has beautiful, full, crisp, shimmering cleans (with tons of HR). It's enough to convince a Fender "clean" snob such as myself. It also has a great Marshally bone crushing crunch side as well.
I am just absolutely in love. The only thing I can imagine I'll do anytime soon is to gank the Chinese tubes.
Don't get me wrong.... the Mesa was FABULOUS and I am sure I just got a dud (it happens), but when I heard this amp it was all over to my ear.
Here it is in all of it's green tolex glory........
