I'm going nuts{HELP} DB'S CLEAN VOLUME BOOST

Ok here it is. Forever trying to boost my solos. Need suggestions on boosting guitar leads? I use a Marshall Plexi... Reverb in the loop OCD in front of the amp. My tone is killer. Ive tried using everything to do this and it just doesnt work, all it does is make it just a hair louder and fuzzy. I'm goin nuts. Ive tried the Duncan booster, eq's, additional od's you name it I've tried it in the loop front back inside out just screws my tone up. I just need some DB's clean DB'S that's all. To add volume to my original tone. Is this at all possible? I've only achieved true volume boost in multi channel heads. This has gotten mighty expensive and sucks at gigs with no soundman. HELP

By using a booster in front of the amp, you're driving the preamp harder. This gives more distortion, not more volume. Try one in the FX loop.

Or a volume pedal in the loop with a settable minimum gain. Set up your rhythm sound with the pedal all the way back, then sweep it forward for more volume on the solo.

Re: I'm going nuts{HELP} DB'S CLEAN VOLUME BOOST

You've tried an EQ in the loop and it doesn't work?? That's strange. I put an EQ in the loop of any of my amps and just move the slider up a bit and I get a nice volume only boost.

Ever heard of a volume knob?? You wil have to set the gain a bit higher to compensate for the "cleaning up" as you roll back a bit, but then when you turn it up you will have more distortion for lead lines.

I've been looking for ways for a boost too...because sometimes the knob dont cut it (depends on how loud the other guys playing, how your tone cuts through, how much you roll back). any ideas??

artec mid/gain boost kit - you can slightly boost gain and midrange together so you get more cut through with a bit more gain for lead

Re: I'm going nuts{HELP} DB'S CLEAN VOLUME BOOST

a fulltone fatboost in the effects loop will give you all the volume boost you could ever want

Re: I'm going nuts{HELP} DB'S CLEAN VOLUME BOOST

Get a true booster pedal, or if you are handy with electronics and a soldering iron, build your own and put it in the effects loop. You're just slamming the front end of your amp harder with the OCD in front. Generally, more clipping = less volume and more compression. You need to boost "after" the preamp stage so the effects loop is perfect for this.

Or you could go the easy way, use the booster in reverse. Find the pedal that colors your tone the least, set that for a lower volume, play through that, then when it's time for your boost- turn the pedal off. If you're demanding that much of a boost that a traditional booster isn't supplying enough, you may want to think about A/B ing two amps.

Genious idea with the pedal thing!!!

I was going to say A/Bing, but that is of course going to cost alot.
