I'm now the proud owner of a GROTE guitar...

Re: I'm now the proud owner of a GROTE guitar...

Late night solo...too lazy to do a new backing track so this is over the same Charvel/Balls deep in blood track I used before...

I will say after a bit of fine-tuning the pick-up height/action, this thing sounds amazing! The pup's look like EMG's except they're passive & lower output than I'm used to ...but damn..they're packed with a TON of tone! Warm, woody, hollow, sweet, round..it's all that and more :bigthumb:

One of those guitar's that really feels "alive" in your hands when you play it. Officially the best $200 I've ever spent :D

No, none at all...it's very well balanced & actually super comfortable to play. Upper fret access is effortless too. Weight-wise..I haven't checked, but I'd say average superstrat weight ie ...about the same as the Ibby SA or Charvel I just bought...perfect for me :D

EDIT: It's approx. 7.5 lbs ..just checked :bigthumb:

Man, it did have one thing wrong with it ..& it cost me $100 :(

The hot wire to the output jack had a poor connection (not really a full-blown cold joint...more like an anemic amount of solder used). Re-soldered it & the output jumped by 100%...it's sounding brilliant now. That '3D' aspect & fullness that I felt was just slightly lacking is now in full force and it's even sweeter/more liquid than before..

Bad news (kinda) is I went and ordered a new set of (reverse zebra/zebra) pickups. I can always use them in another guitar (I'm actually loving this one's tone with the stock pup's so much now...I don't wan't to mess it up) but eh..an expense that could so easily have been avoided :grumble:

I kinda wanted a HOTONE Heart Attack...and that's going to have to wait now.. :(

EDIT: Well, I'm feeling better after doing this :lmao:
