there's two amps that i want right now. the two: the mesa boogie nomad 100 and a mesa boogie heartbreaker 2x12 combo. these are all very good amps. however, i am leaning towards the mesa boogie nomad as of current. i have heard very good things about the heartbreaker as well. i may be going to my favorite guitar shop today and i'm gonna try out the heartbreaker. i have tried out the nomad the last few times i have been there, it sounds awesome. i will review both of these amps, the nomad now and the heartbreaker when i get back. the nomad has a lot of features that i'm going to go over so this could get relatively long.
features: A LOT! seperate eq, reverb, gain, volume, presence control, 3 channels, 2 modes for each channel. solo boost, master volume, master visual eq. fx loop, different ohm outputs, two 4 (full satck) and one 8 (half). this is a head. 4x6l6 or el34 in the power section, 5x12AX7 in the pre, recording out, recording silent switch, slave out, six button footswitch.
ch1: clean/pushed.
clean: well the obvious: it's clean. it really depends on how you like it, this amp will do it. you just have to tinker with it.
pushed: more of a bluesy sound, not quite distortion but not quite clean, hopefully you know what i'm talking about.
ch2: modern/vintage: distortion, the modern is more progessive and gainy while the vintage is more creamy. the vintage sounds heavenly, it really has some low end on it, roll the tone of on the neck pickup, plop a wah infont of it and play away. modern, i can't really describe it, you can get some really nice tones out of this setting.
ch3: modern/vintage, again. this is different it's more gain and balls than channel 2. it is definetely more favorite channel overall. vintage is very thick with humbuckers and single coils. and the vintage sounds gainy with both.
i realize this isn't that great of a review but hey, you get the idea
edit: there's also a half cut switch to go from 100 watts to 60
