I'm starting a new guitar project.

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

I have only owned one warrior before, I wired in some sucky pickups and sold it to a student for even cheaper than I bought it for ha ha ha! I have owned I think 6 Randy Rhoads Jacksons in various configurations over the years.... I do love them!

But I Made my decision tonight;

I Put the new neck I just bought up on ebay.

Bought a Warrior body with Floyd route off ebay!!! Its a beautiful blue flame now, but its gonna get the white-out treatment and bloodied up pretty good.

Now I have to really research sanding and prepping the body for paint.

Picture of the body I just bought:

Also got a question, what would you use to fill one hole? I'm going for a toggle and a master volume is all.... I rarely use separate volumes for the pups, and I never use tone control, ever...... so why not just make it how I want it from this stage...

My thought is to fill it with epoxy and tape the inside??? other thoughts?

My dad has a lathe too, he's been a machinist his whole life, maybe I could turn down any old dowel to the right size and then use some sort of wood putty to fill the tiny cracks around that?

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

Here is my 5 minute photochop edition of what my vision kind of is....

BloodWarrior.jpg

Only it will have a black Jackson logo... and um.... dot inlays on board I'm sure, so I'll have some red decal markers in there of some sort... diamonds or stars or something maybe these...

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

My neck sold fast!

24 fret Jackson reverse Neck ordered .... oooh baby.

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

yep, way more usefull than the tone pot and you can use that hole instead of going through the nightmare of properly filling a hole

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

well I've been a very busy bastard today!

Got the body in the mail and a pickup..... still need to buy a Floyd and a killswitch.... Think that's it.

Here is the thing mocked up.

Here it is getting the Dewalt 1500 grit treatment.... (Upon close inspection, this body is way too dinged up to make this a pristine perfection kind of "nice thing"... So I fullheartedly decided to just friggin GO for it! (I have Chris Holmes yellow beast in the back of my head... anyhow....)

First coat of paint, used Epoxy paint for some durability...... Heck I may even start drinking again just so I can properly abuse it!

Ran into yet another Friggin boneheaded move on my part...ordered a really nice 24 fret Warrior neck.....ugh but it has a regular nut!!!!
Good thing I can use google.... and a file/shim/belt sander/drill/etc.etc. I made the R3 Floyd nut I bought actually fit rather nice (took a lot of time and meticulous work here)

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

I let it dry for a couple hours under a fan, couldn't wait to try out the blood droplets I've been dreaming about for so many years....
I actually really like the way it turned out!

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

neck is the bridge pup out of my other Jackson RR...its white and bright and probably won't get used much....ha ha ha

bridge is my first Dimarzio.. the X2N, I hear it wails.... if it doesn't sound right I'll get something else,

Need to decide if I am going to slop more blood on the pups when they are installed, or leave them alone to pop.

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

i suggest you to put some wood or plastic covers on the pickups and then paint them, that way if you change 'em (the pickups) you can keep the look

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

Still need
Jackson logo...although I'm toying with the idea of a charvel logo...just to be different and make some people wig out about it.
Input jack ....
Screws to hold pickup rings
Floyd...currently eBay bidding

Killswitch is on its way...

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

hmmm and why not a stencil of your own logo?
it's a parts warrior but it doesn't means you can't put whatever logo you want, even your own......

for the screws i'm sure you can go to any hardware store with a screw from other of your guitars and just find one the same size

btw bro, that warrior is just getting amazing!

Why not a Kill switch or onboard boost of some kind?

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

Either would be quite convenient to hit in that location.

Re: I'm starting a new guitar project.

Just imagine hitting a harmonic, dropping it with the bar and then stuttering it with a killswitch. Or hitting the boost at the bottom of the drop and letting it rise again.
