In Flames gear on Whoracle?

Does anyone know what amps they used to record Whoracle? I'm not sure if the 5150 was out yet when they recorded it, and the tone seems a tad different than that trademark 5150 tone. I also know Bjorn played drums and they had a different guitarist playing with Jesper, Glenn Ljungstrom.

Also, If anyone knows how they did the lead sounds on Jester Race, I'd be curious. It almost sounds direct-recorded to me, and almost keyboardy. But I dig it a lot.

They used the old marshall valvestates for their old stuff.. and im guessing on this, but sounds like a tubescreamer for leads. Whoracle i dont know about, cause its actually the only album i dont have songs from.

Their best tone was on that album and then it went down hill.

I really like the tones on Whoracle, but am not a fan of those on Colony. However the 5150 tone on Come Clarity blows me away every time. The Jester Race tone seems like it's the same as the Whoracle tone.

I really don't think that sound is Marshall Valvestate, I swear it sounds similar to a 5150 but maybe it isn't...?

I had a valvestate, and I didn't get tones like that. Mine were more bassy, and less gainy. I miss my old valvestate head tho :27:

However, I didn't use EMGs, I don't detune, who knows what other effects were used, etc.

I know almost 100% that it was the old Marshall valvestates, the 8100 or 8200. Its the same amp that Death always used, and they sound alot alike.

Clayman is the best sounding In Flames album, and one of the best sounding metal albums, period.
