I recently picked up a Fulltone OCD - primarily to use with a Blues Jr. to get good overdrive in low-volume settings. I love this pedal! I'm generally a plug into an amp, crank the gain, no pedals kinda guy but I've found that when this thing overdrives an amp (or at least my relatively cheap tube amps) it sounds better than the amps own gain. I plugged it into my Peavey Butcher - in the low gain input and WOW... it sounds like an old 60-s-70's Marshall, cranked up to 10. I've A/B'd it with the high gain input w/o pedal (amp's own overdrive that I usually use) and I actually think it sounds better with the pedal. Much more beefy, crunchy, creamy and the highs are tamed a bit more than the high gain input. Best of all, it responds like a tube amp should, you can back off the volume on the guitar or play lighter and the overdrive eases up.
Not the cheapest pedal in the world ($160-ish) but, it's worth it. Anyone looking for a good overdrive pedal, this is definitely one worth checking out.
And no, I don't work for Fulltone :biglaugh:
