For a Fender Performer 1000, 100 W combo,open-back, hybrid( 1x 12AX7 for crunch channel), 12" 16 ohm.
I only use the clean channel with dirt pedals in front.
Looking for 80's metal type of sound.( Maiden, Scorpions, VH, Motley Crue...)
Any suggestions???

So many choices, but I like the V12 Legend. Big sounding but very light magnet so it won't break your back in a combo.
120 watts, fairly neutral eq wise with smooth treble, nice low register mid voicing. Tight and sizable lowend that will never collapse on you. Pristine cleans and mean crunch. Very versatile too.

1x12 at 100watts reduces your options. Because the speaker is doing the job on its own you really want to be looking at speakers rated at 100watts minimum.
Check out a tonker if you want a brit/celestion kind of sound but i dont reckon it will be the best match for an amp like yours even tho the bands you like would have used brit speakers. Given that you are after marshall stack sounds from a fender ss amp you probably should just accept that if you cant copy the marshall stack sound, you can still make the most out of the amp you have. In that light, i reckon you should look at either a swamp thing or possibly a texas heat. A swamp thing is bigger sounding, clearer and more present with a more modern top end sizzle, but that may accentuate the buzzy frequencies in your SS amp. A texas heat is more of a classic sound with less efficiency and a darker top end. Its a sweet speaker but may not be agressive enough for you. Ill take a punt and recommend the swamp thing, but see if you can try before committing.
All 3 speakers (150watts) will have enough headroom to handle the job of being a lone driver with your amp. It just comes down to voicing and how they get along with your pedal driven dirt sounds.

May I suggest the G12T-75, I'm sure I'm the only one who actually prefers them, but it's just my .02

i quite like t75's too, but they are only 75 watts and his amp is 100. I had a 100w marshall MkIII900 and it had a g12H100 in it which was pretty ballsy. Thats a nice speaker, but an eminence tonker is similarly voiced but is rated to 150w.

Re: In the market for a new speaker....preferably Eminence.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Swamp Thang seems a good choice. Heard Youtube clips, pretty nice tone.
But what i also saw was The Guvnor, that sounded awesome!! Too bad it's only 75 Watts.
It is a British voiced speaker compared to the Swamp Thang which is an Amercian voiced one.
Is it too risky putting a 75 W speaker in a 100W amp, even tho i never play past 4-5 on the volume??

Actually , the Man O War is the equivalent of the G12T75 and is rated 120W rms.
More British than the Swamp Thang.

Re: In the market for a new speaker....preferably Eminence.

yeh. the tonker is similarly voiced to the g12H100/g12K100, not the T75. Both speakers are more british than a swampy of course.
To the Op: i generally like to have double the wattage of the amp in the speakers to handle peaks. You can run a lower wattage speaker of course, but its always a risk even if you run at only 4 or 5 especially if you are using only one driver and an open back cab.

Re: In the market for a new speaker....preferably Eminence.

I love the Swamp Thang. Very versatile. Great warm tone but with a nice sparkly high end. I can get it to do any type of music i play. I've got it in an oversized 2x12 cab coupled with a G12H = awesome tone.

Re: In the market for a new speaker....preferably Eminence.

There's nothing wrong at all with the G12T-75s. The amp might be rated for 100W, but you're not necessarily pumping 100 watts into it all of the time, that's just on demand more like a bass amp. And I personally like running a higher wattage amp into a lower wattage speaker. If it's clean power it'll handle it just fine.

The Swamp Thing is closer to British than the Texas Heat IMO. If you want the extra power handling the ST is the way I would go.

The Governor @ 75w would probably be ok. You might consider the Wizard as well. Its a very efficient speaker so you would not have to push the amp as hard and its rated @ 75w as well.

Re: In the market for a new speaker....preferably Eminence.

Spoke to Anthony at Eminence and he recommends the Swamp Thang as it takes dirt pedals really well. I heard some clips on youtube and it sounds good. I really like the Guvnor but rated at 75 W but I dont want to take a chance at blowing it.
Swamp Thang it is !!

Thx guys!!

Re: In the market for a new speaker....preferably Eminence.

You should be very happy with the Swamp Thang. I would never consider replacing mine.

Re: In the market for a new speaker....preferably Eminence.

I use Texas Heats. They sound great clean or dirty and they are not expensive. I found some recently for about $60.00 each new. I use a Marshall amp and also like an 80's type metal tone.
