Oh yeah! Well you can go let Gonesh have his way with you. All I can can say is, OxiClean will get out those stubborn stains, even from banks of the Ganges River! :)

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

I don't think there is a best. You can get great tone from all those woods and others beside -- many that aren't even considered a "tone wood". This comes down to personal choice. The general tonal qualities you like will generally dictate what wood you use. Personally, I like them all!

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

For me, what ever is the darkest in tone . . . so that is probably Mahogany !

Is there any Mahogany Tele's out there ? Inever looked into it.

James

Rosewood is darker in tone than Mahogany. It's also A LOT heavier!

Errrrr, Umm....

Time for a quick lesson in theology.

Ganesh is connected with Hinduism.
Jesus is connected with Christianity.
Mohammed is connected with Muslims.
Abraham is connected with Judaism
Buddha is connected with Buddhism.

The blue fat guy that hasn't been watching his calories in my avatar is a Buddha. :14:

p.s. Oxiclean is generally preffered by Hare Krishnas. :1:

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

I pretty much only play Fenders.

I like light weight swamp ash for my Teles.

I like lightweight alder or swamp ash for my Strats.

That's all I use. And all I really like.

When it comes to acoustic guitars, I prefer Brazilian Rosewood back and sides and Appalachian Red Spruce. Or Engleman Spruce. I have a couple of old Taylors with Brazilian and Engleman...they're my favorite acoustic guitars that I've ever owned.

I do have a nice small bodied Taylor with Honduras Mahogany and Engleman Spruce that's a sweet sounding guitar too.

Hey man, i'm in the market for a new guitar, and your rig is literally exactly what i'm looking for. Do you have any videos of you playing it? Any comments on it? What did you put in the bridge? Thanks in advance

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I'm just a bit confused. Not only did you bump a thread that died just shy of seven years ago but you also didn't quote the person to whom your question is directed. Maybe you could clarify a bit.

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

N2O2ArCO2NeHeCH4 with a splash of H2O depending on how humid/arid the climate is ;)

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

Mahogany body and neck. Rosewood fretboard.

Mahogany body + maple top = perfect

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

Instead of "liking the guitar because you like the wood" (ie: Mahogany + Maple = Good), how about just liking the wood because you like the guitar? I don't think things are so black and white as they're made out to be on guitar forums.

This. You may have a certain sound in your head and think that there's only one way to get it, but then find out that you were off by about a million other factors.

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

Rosewood. My fingerboards must be made out of it. It just sounds good. That's been the common wood between most of my axes and it never fails to appeal.

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

i love the sound of my dk-2 and its poplar.. some look down on this wood as a cheap substitute for alder as long as the guitar is painted a solid color.. probably in the minority but i like the wood... it is what it is

Re: In your own opinion best tone wood

I love them all, Mahogany, Poplar, basswood, plywood, maple, walnut, acrylic, alder, pine, ash.....
I feel that I can tweak a setting here or there to make them all sound great....

But if I have my druthers.... Mahogany Neck-thru, Ebony, String-thru.
