Incoming Hamer Goldtop

Just pulled the trigger on this inexpensive MIK Hamer doublecut goldtop. I've been jonesing for a Gibby but this was too good of a deal to pass up. Is it a keeper? I don't know! It is supposed to come tomorrow in the mail.

It has DiMarzio pickups now, but I may switch them out for chrome/nickel covered pickups. Any suggestions? I'm thinking Seth Lovers or 59 set.

Wow, a very cool guitar! I always say, live with the pickups for a little while at least so you know what direction to go if you decide to swap them.

Thanks - and yeah I will. I think these are Super D/36th anniversary, which I like a lot so I'll see how they sound in THIS guitar.

Nice find. Those MIK Hamer's are sweet. Can't really go wrong with SuperD/36th PAF set. From the Duncan line, any covered PAF would be my first choice. Probably A2Pros or 59's.

That is beyond sweet. I would leave the SD in there myself. I feel everyone should have at least one SD guitar in the stable.

I had an amber flametop version of that guitar years ago, before most folks realized the quality that was coming out of South Korean guitar factories. I predict you'll be very happy with that.

With those SD's it should be a rock machine, if that's what you're looking for.

fender bought em and killed off the brand, not sure who owns it now. they only do overseas stuff these days
