IMO locking studs won't make any difference at all,,,,,,,except when the bridge is off they won't get turned unintentionally.
When the bridge is on and under the tension of the strings the studs won't get turned one bit.
The tiny bit of play you feel in the non-locking studs (which is what OFR uses btw) when the bridge is off won't result in more or less wiggling of the inserts themselves in the wood when wanking the bar.
The inserts are/can be the problem with basswood bodies, and wild whammy doesn't help, and neither does bigger/tighter strings.
Mine have no issues at all at this point, but I would not be surprised to see the inserts get some play over time.
I keep mine at Eb with 10-50 slinky strings so there isn't super high tension,,,,,,but i still go wild on the bar now and then.
Basswood bodies just are not really made for those inserts. Changing the studs won't help tuning stability/return at all IMO.
edit; They are better though. I'd prefer to have locking studs on every guitar just so they can't be moved when doing maintenance.
