We are totally on the same page. It's very likely that the set of 4 vintage amber knobs I ordered will arrive before the guitar does, LOL. I'll just bag and save the originals. Also, I've never played an LP with no binding, but the nibs have always been frustrating. I'm anxious to feel the difference. In many ways it's exactly like my beloved Dean Hardtail's, but in a single cut version.
I will post new pics upon arrival!!

Depending on how much this has been played and worn the fret ends are, this will have a much better feel than Gibson's typical fret-end nibs. If it hasn't been played much you may need to do a little fret end filing and polishing to get it to feel like butter.
If you end up not liking it, let me know. I love pretty guitars and that is one of the most gorgeous ever!!! Congrats man.

I guess the binding is an individual taste.
I also have a LP Special with a neck binding but it doesn’t cover the fret ends like the Standard does.

Yeah, I like that kind. Epi does it that way and I like the feel and playability much better than Gibson nub ends.

PFD..... thank you very much. I've been looking for the right LP for a while now, so fingers crossed that this one sounds and feels good too.
Gtr Jr...... that is a great looking LP. I tried to buy the one that Gearjonser had for sale a while back, but he had already sold it. Yours looks very similar. I really like the caramel and tea and light bursts. Sometimes its hard for me to tell which is which. I really like the shading and transition on your burst. J fortunately Gibson gets the transitions wrong far too often for the premium price they charge.
Doc, I'm really hoping I like the way the neck feels on this one, without those nib ends. The seller said he bought this new and hasn't put that many hours of play time on it... and he doesn't gig. So this should be pretty close to a new guitar, if his information is accurate. He seems honest enough, but you never really know.
If the fret ends or fingerboard need some work, I have a great tech up in Austin. I had him level and dress the frets on my Spalted Maple Dean Hardtail, as well as smooth all of the nib ends. It's now the best feeling neck I have. I don't mind spending a bit more money to make that right if I like everything else about it. If I truly just don't like the guitar and don't want to keep it, I'll send you a note.
I checked the tracking on my guitar, and even though the seller posted it last Saturday, it wont arrive until Monday..... coming UPS. I was hoping to have it for the weekend, but I'll have to be patient. It doesn't seem like it would take that long to go from Washington State to San Antonio. Patience has never been one of my virtues, but I will survive.

Good news for old Jeffrey. My original delivery date, given by UPS, was Monday January 22. Its always crappy to have to wait through a weekend for a new fiddle to arrive. I checked the status today just for grins, and my delivery has been rescheduled for January 19th......tomorrow!!!! NGD for the weekend and I just put up a new wall holder for the LP today.
Yay!!!
