Incoming NGD.

Just completed a deal on a PRS McCarty... Should be here Thursday or Friday. I wanted a 2 humbucker guitar if the occasion arose - besides its where my beer money goes.

My record still stands - Been playing 37 years. Never owned a Gibson!!!! I was tempted though. To be truthful - all the horror stories I hear about Gibson quality control, PRS seems the best alternative.

Also got a tremolo-no for my nephew. He keeps talking about being able to do "Drop D" on his Floyded Jackson.

Re: Incoming NGD.

Right on! PRS guitar are very consistent, well built instruments. I had one as my main player for 2 years, and I gigged it relentlessly over that period of time. It never skipped a beat. Enjoy!

Re: Incoming NGD.

The McCarty was the first PRS I bought and I still have it and love it! Congrats on the new axe bro!

Re: Incoming NGD.

IMO, the McCarty is 'the Gibson that never was.' I say that because of Ted McCarty's Gibsonizing of Paul Reed Smith's original design.
I think Ted was correct about every change he made.

I love my two McCarty models. They sound better than many of my other guitars, and once you've got the wrap around tail piece 100% intonated, these guitars stay in tune incredibly well. Every time I pull one out of the case, it's still perfectly in tune, even if it sat there for months.

Re: Incoming NGD.

McCartys are great guitars. I almost bought a used gold top a few years ago, but didn't have the $$$. I now wish I'd gotten it anyway. Great playing and sounding guitars.

Ok - Best I could do seeing my camera's battery ran out. ugh. It does show the figuring better than the sellers photos. Looks to be a really nice top. Better than going topless... :friday:

Re: Incoming NGD.

I agreed a purchase for a McCarty from Willcutt a few years back - one with a rosewood neck - only to find out my bank couldn't arrange the transfer of funds in the timescale needed, so had to back out of the sale. Since then I've had one of my mate's in my hands for a little while. I'd say that was the best PRS I've played; better than his Singlecut Trem, better than my CU22, better than my 513. It just fit and played perfectly.
