info on Holdsworth model

Re: info on Holdsworth model

It's supposedly a JB with two rows of flathead screws, instead of one row of flatheads and one row of steel slugs.

Are you interested because you like Allan's tone? If so, you shouldn't even think about the Holdsworth Model or the JB. Allan never used it. If you're looking for Allan Holdsworth's tone, look into getting a '59 neck humbucker and put it in the bridge, that's close to Allan's tone. There was a thread here not long ago about it. Re: info on Holdsworth model

actually i was more interested in Doug Aldrich's tone with his black strat, maple neck with CBS headstock that's all beat up with the zebra pup in the bridge. i read on his old gear page that it was a duncan holdsworth pickup. and his tone with it on the "Evil or Devine" DVD is quite nice.

I have the Holdsworth model and the Dio video (as wel as saw him live). Doug does have nice tone. I could believe that it could very well be the Holdsworth pup in that guitar but can't confirm.

Re: info on Holdsworth model

A JB might work just as well. If you feel like doing mods to pickups, you can always get a JB, take out the slugs and replace them with screws, I suppose.

click on the gear section and it will be the last one on the right. if you mouse over the info button it will tell you about it inclucing the pickup.
