Initial Review of the DiMarzio Titan Bridge

Re: Initial Review of the DiMarzio Titan Bridge

It gives u a very rich, unique midrange in e standard. Its not super tight by any stretch of the imagination. I actually found that its best use was for a really nice, expressive, harmonically rich lead tone. It just fell short for me with any tuning below d standard. When the d was tuned down to c it got really flubby and hard to control. Its very dynamic in lower tunings, but to a fault. The low end is just too big and loose. But for e standard or e flat with reasonable string tension, its great. Good for that gnr evh type sound. Organic, smooth, and rich are among the first words i'd choose to describe the cc. What exactly r u referring to when u say high gain hard rock though?

Cool thanks for the info! I'm pretty sure i'll be buying a Custom Custom sometime soon.
Yeah, I'd be using it for E-Standard/Drop D so that's good. I'm still slightly hesitant on it regarding the looseness, but if the looseness is only an issue at lower tunings then I should be fine.
When I say high gain hard rock I'm thinking of a tone similar to Myles Kennedy in Alter Bridge--interestingly enough he uses a Custom Custom in some of his guitars, lol.

Re: Initial Review of the DiMarzio Titan Bridge

There will be an increase in the squishy feeling of the bass with pickups that use magnets with increasing metal which will result in an increase in eddy currents. The Custom Custom with its A2 magnet will be more squishy than a Custom 5 with its A5 magnet which will be more squishy than the urgent Custom with its ceramic magnet.

This is in addition to the reduced bass caused by the weaker A2 magnet.

They play in drop b sometimes though...not this guitar i take it? Myles kennedy...awesome! at this point everything depends on your string gauge, drive pedal(s), amp, and amp settings. What r u running?

Re: Initial Review of the DiMarzio Titan Bridge

Not sure what guitars/tunings he has the Custom Custom in but I'm pretty sure the Drop B (variation) they use is on one of the guitars that has the CC, but I could be wrong. I know some other bands use the CC in Drop Bb/A# like Sevendust. Either way, I'm going ot be in E Standard and Drop D on this guitar anyway.

Nowadays I'm just a bedroom guitarist running Line 6 Helix Native (VST) into my computer (my real amps get no love, sadly). Usually simple patches with a high gain amp around noon or 1 o'clock, and usually have an OD in front.

i found that i had to really push the front end and dial back some bass in to get it to chug on breakdowns in drop c. i play a lot of djent so it wasnt my bag but youll probably love it. I actually ripped the ceramic out of a bc rich pickup and converted my cc into a c. bit of a mid scoop but it chugs and its clearer

I realize u might be on a budget, but is the prs tremonti treble pickup an option?

Definitely on a budget. Also not interested in that pickup. Trying to get away from the high gain ceramic bridge.
I will likely order an SH-11 (Custom Custom) in the next few days as I'm pretty sure it's going to give me the sound I'm looking for in a bridge pickup (based on the research and feedback I've been getting).

u need to work for it a bit more with the chuggy bits, using a decently heavy e string helps (52 or thicker)

Just ordered a Custom Custom from a local music store. Unfortunately, they didn't have any TB-11's in stock and the supplier is out so I have to wait for the supplier to re-stock. No rush, but I definitely can't wait to try it out!

funny story. i thought i had a dd jb but its a distortion. guitar center and jackso ****ed the spec sheet, i only found out when i yanked it to put my cc ceramic in my soloist. but i do have the a2 and the dd distortion, and if i remember correctly the jb and the distortion r the same wind. i'll give it a shot when i figure out wtf is wrong with the pots in my squier. whats so special about it?

Re: Initial Review of the DiMarzio Titan Bridge

If not the same wind, very similar.

Try it and find out. I'll be surprised if you don't like it.

It'll do drop C# no problem, but it isn't about rhythm.

Still too much compression for my blood, but it's fun and very easy to play.
