Input jack on PC Board

I have a mid 90's model Crate Vintage Series tube amp and the input jack is bad. it starts to crackle after a few minutes of playing. Upon removing the panels, I discovered the jack is soldered to a PC Board. I am asking for some advice from anyone out here on how to remove the jack to put on a new one. I have good soldering skills but have not worked with a PC board before. Some investigating is in order before I begin and also what materials do I need to remove it safely. This amp hasn't been produced since '96 so replacement boards could be a problem. Please Help, Anybody!

Re: Input jack on PC Board

taking the amp apart to get to the spot you need to on the pcb will be a lot of work, only do this if you're really good at complex disassembling and reassembling, there are going to be a lot of screws and nuts on the way.

i had to do this recently when fixing my marshal tsl601 the fix was easy enough getting there was hard.

any amp that ive owned that had a pc mounted jack and the jack went bad, i put a normal switchcraft jack in with wires to the board

Get an old radio and practice removing and reinserting parts in there.

Take the amp apart far enough that you can really work in there. Do not try to squeeze through some half-opened thing. All you get from that is messy solder points and burn marks on everything next to it. You want the PCB totally flat in front of you.

Equipment wise you only need the iron and a pump to remove the existing solder. Do not try to do it without a proper pump if it's your first soldering.
