Hey!

I'm in really need of an instrutional DVD/book on music theory, and would like it to learn it through guitar. I need something that is really organised and hopefully doesn't cost a fortune. I want to learn chrod progressions, what scales can I use with them, harmonies. Hopefully get better at improvisation, I really suck at it. I was thinking about guitarjamz music theory survival guide, but it's quite expensive. Is it any good?

Thank you all for your help!

Re: Instructionals on learning music theory?

I took classical guitar classes for 2 years in high school and I sure learned well on how to read music. I've used Aaron Shearer's books volumes 1 & 2 and they are excellent instructional books for music theory on guitar.

Try the DVDs on the modes on lick library. Presents it so easily it isnt scary at all. You take a few months and go thru it, it will give you a solid foundation.
