interesting goodwill find (randall)

so i got this at a goodwill, im pretty sure nobody had a clue what it was except for me i guess.
so i snatched it up.

i tried it out last night it all works and the xlr emulation is actually very real sounding, its sounds very personal to the sound, when i have my hands on the strings i can feel the guitars roundness in the emulation, not like some others ive tried where its a compressed flat stuck-mids sort of signal.
i bet if you mixed this signal with the SM57 it will remove that telephone line quality about the SM57 and add a huge fullness underneath it.

if anyone wants it pm me.
i will take $15 bucks and u pay shipping, probably around $7 idk.

that's wild - is it a jack assembly from a 4 x 12 cab with a built-in emulator? weird! didn't know their cabs had that. how is it powered? how do you hook up those wires out the back?

if properly housed, that's a great price for an emulator piece of hardware.

its all passive, no power required other than pure amp volume pushing into the unit and out the xlr's

there are two sets of black/red wires to connect to the cab speakers

then xlr outs into a your pc or other audio recording device

Re: interesting goodwill find (randall)

I wonder if it would work with 16 ohm speakers, I'll take it if t does.

Re: interesting goodwill find (randall)

weird, I thought all cab sims were like pedals, needing power. would be cool to get the schematic and do one up!

Re: interesting goodwill find (randall)

Ha, I think it does. Let me see what I can find out, PM you in a bit.

Re: interesting goodwill find (randall)

im looking all over the net too on them, hard to find anything.

hey guys i have one more of these things
if anyone else wants it let me know
cheers!
$23 shipped

Re: interesting goodwill find (randall)

It's simply the jack plate from a Randall cab. My 2x12 has this. It's XLR for direct recording. No power needed, just connect speakers and a load.

Cool little contraption, I half wanted it just for the 4/16 mono switch, which I don't think you'll find for $23, the mic eliminators are just icing. Still need to test it out.
