Interview with Bill Finnegan - new Klon Pedals

Re: Interview with Bill Finnegan - new Klon Pedals

LOL

They were supposed to be released in 2010. Some sites started taking preorders in like August, but still no date.

Re: Interview with Bill Finnegan - new Klon Pedals

Well, this interview was supposed to be from the February of 2012. I'm going to get a JHS Klon clone or something if Bill can't get his own back on the market soon and at a fair price.

The videos were cool. In that comparison video, the gold Centaur sounded best to me. I wonder if the component variances Bill was talking about between the three pedals will occur in the production KTRs because that gold one was awesome!

Check out the internals of the KTR:

Ha, I think once a good reissue comes out poor Jonesers Klon will depreciate in value several hundred dollars.

By the way, I think the new ones sounds terrible compared to the originals.

Me too. Liked the gold one the best. But that's just like everything. The sum of the parts, with all of their plus or minus tolerances, always comes out with each combination having a slightly different personality. That's a good thing, I think. That way, every body think they've got the best one. Thanks for the video you provided.

Re: Interview with Bill Finnegan - new Klon Pedals

I'm curious to know what the new contracted in the US model will sell for.

I think the original price was $230.

I bought my early 90's one in the late 90's mint in box for $240. Boy did that ever turn out to be a wise purchase! :naughty:

Yeah...like you'd ever sell it anyway... :cool2:

Re: Interview with Bill Finnegan - new Klon Pedals

IIRC it's going to cost 250. Honestley, I've just become disenfranchised with the whole idea of a Klon. TGP effect I guess.

I wouldn't sell it because I love it. If I gig anywhere that I can't keep my pedalboard in my possession, I use a small board with good sounding cheap pedals like MXR and Boss.

That's what I thought. :)

I might be getting a KOT. We'll see.

When a guitarist goes from rhythm to lead and stomps his overdrive into action it always sounds abrupt and artificial to me. TGWIF likes a pedal that he can leave on all the time and the KOT seems like it might be the pedal I'm looking for.

By the same token, Jeff Beck is my favorite rock guitarist and I love the tones he gets - especially these days since he dumped the Rat and started using a Klon.

Andrew posted this video. I don't know what Jeff is using besides two Fender Pro Juniors. Maybe a Klon and a Wampler Ecstasy. I love his tone and playing on this - especially the first few notes Beck plays, where it sounds like Albert King.

I have a mate who has the Gold Klon.....and one very old TS-808.....we jammed with a band.....there was about close to no difference in most settings.....
A pedal is no more glorious than the amp it is used over!

Not saying that any of these pedals sounds bad, but they do not sound that much apart either.

As said before, do not put so much emphasis on gear, Beck always sounded the way he sounds, Klon or not...
