Intonation problems with Gotoh 510 bridge

Hi guys, anyone have any experience of this bridge?

Have just put it in an epi jr, and i love the "floating" design of the posts but i'm stuck on intonation. I can't move the bridge any further back than the point at which the access hole for an allen key to adjust the bridge height is not obscured, but at this point, and even with the saddles all the way back, my 12th fret note is still sharp on a lot of strings. Ive tried flipping the saddles round on the bottom 3 strings as i found it odd from previous LP/SG style guitars that out of the box they were all facing the same way, but its still not quite there ( i'd also rather not flip the saddles as the groove is cut to fit "one way".

+1 to this, I wouldn't worry about the way the saddles are cut unless it causes some kind of negative affects & I really wouldn't think that it would? If it gets you where you need to be then its the right thing to do & nobody's going to be the wiser once it's strung anyway, aside from you that is... If that doesn't work you can do one of two things, you may need to look into buying another bridge with a little more leeway or if you don't want to go that route you can borrow my neck stretching & shrinking machine, I keep it right next to my big white bucket of black steam, LOL!!!

Thanks guys, but i've said i've tried to turn the saddles around already. The way they're cut means the strings come loose - can look at filing a deeper notch i guess. Still doesnt fix my intonation problem though so will look at orher bridges. Any other suggestions gratefully received ...

What guitar are you putting it on?

Was the guitar originally furnished with a LockTone Tun-O-Matic bridge? If so, it is probable that the posts are too far foward (toward the nut) for the Gotoh 510.

first thought was that he would have to move the bridge back a bit..or get another bridge

My only suggestion is that you adjust the bridge height as well as possible before burying the adjustment screw. After intonating you may have to move the bridge forward to fine tune the height adjustment, and then move it back again to recheck/reset intonation.
