Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

We have a pickup set and 2 new loaded pickguards based on the master of the Stratocaster. Read all about it here.

On March 28, 1968, a young Seymour W. Duncan met Jimi Hendrix at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Jimi was playing two shows at the Field House arena. Seymour brought a gift with him that day; pickups he hand-wound just for Jimi. Roger Mayer installed the pickups in Jimi’s white Stratocaster then and there. He asked Seymour to carry that white Strat up on stage, and that event would set in motion Seymour’s future and legacy.

Now that same tone is available to you.

Re: Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

Wow.

I'm assuming the Hendrix estate is on board with this. They are almost as bad as the Tolkien Estate

Re: Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

Any details on output/dcr ratings? Didnt see anything on the page

Re: Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

Are these guaranteed make me sound like Jimi?

I think you'll sound like Jimi Regan and I'll sound like Jimi Brummels. But we can always buy the right guitar strap and pretend it's Woodstock.

Re: Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

Okay, now I have to ask:

What are all the specific differences between these and the Psychelic Strat Set? (And antiquities, etc. for that matter)

Jimis are 6.07k for all three, really? A5; left-hand stagger; only set, no singles? $279 set

Psyches are 5.9k, 5.85k, 5.95k; A5; right-hand stagger; available as singles; $300 set
(it's custom shop, can request left-hand stagger, no?)

Ant Texas Hot are 6.3k, 6.5k, 9.8k; A2; right-hand stagger; available as singles; $265 set

Ant Surfer are 6.5k, 6.5k, 9.8k; A5; right-hand stagger; available as singles; $265 set

SSL1 are 6.5, 6.5, 6.5; A5; right-hand stagger; available as singles; $159 set

...what else am I missing ?

(besides the sound when it's in my '66 Fender Strat;
and forget Jimi's hands for now, ain't gonna happen.)

Re: Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

obviously i havent heard these but the rest of the pups you mentioned all sound fairly different

Re: Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

Put it in a reversed headstock Strat for full effect.

I think that's what I'm ultimately getting at... what's the [sonic] difference? I can read the specs, which a few of them look close, but I know winds and other construction elements can make a difference (bobbins, baseplates, etc.) I'm less of a Strat aficionado, but I do have 3 strats, one of them vintage, and the Hendrix (and SRV-ish) tones I've found more useful for me. So I'm interested in what's the diff (sound) between these and Psyches, and even the Ants.

Re: Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

Okay... So Seymour got pickups into the hands of Hendrix, Page, Beck...

Beginning to wonder if he didn't happen to meet Robert Johnson down in Mississippi... Lol

You trying to give Cathy Carter Duncan ideas for a new product? lol!

I have an idea: take all custom jobs Seymour and MJ have done throughout the years for different artists and sell'em with a reminiscent name, so you can avoid paying royalties to the artist and at the same time saving on new products R&D.

Oh, wait... ;)

Like BK does with it's black dog, Slowhand & brown sugar sets?

Edit: oops just noticed the 'oh wait' at the end of the post

Would seem that calling the set the Jimi Hendrix Signature Set would guarantee that Jimi's estate is making a commission on these.

Jimi's estate earnings are right up there with Michael Jackson, John Lennon, and other famous celebrities who have passed on but who are still marketable. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/john-lennon-jimi-hendrix-land-on-top-earning-dead-celebrities-list/

Re: Introducing the Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Set

The same Hendrix estate that approved the Epiphone Hendrix Strat and the Digitech Hendrix was pedal?
