Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

No.

I mean if you feel unhappy what with you have, okay - but they are still going to be a similar quality but just a different tone.

If you had written “I have a strat with single coils, but I want a PAF tone like Billy Gibbons” then I’d say definitely. But you already have SD mini buckers. No reason to change them unless you personally feel you want a change. I think that lil 59 is going to end up sounding pretty similar to these anyway.

Thank you....I appreciate it. I love both my guitars as they are. Perhaps if I get a 3rd strat at some point I’ll spring for one. But the tone I’m getting with these guitars through my rig is just wonderful.

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

Any idea how the Red Devil bridge compares to a Dimarzio Chopper?

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

none of us have tried the red devil yet, they are brand new.

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

I recently bought a new Player Series Strat (Mex) and considered replacing the bridge pup with a Little 59, but after seeing the Red Devil, may go that route. My question is, will there be a balance problem, powerwise / volumewise with the other pups? I also may acquire an ‘89 USA Strat soon and considered doing the same with it.

Welcome to the forum!

While I am going on speculation (none of us here have these yet), I believe the Red Devil has more mids than the Little 59. It will sound like a humbucker, and yes, there will be a volume difference between that and the stock Fender pickups (that is sort of the point). It won't be a crazy difference, but you will hear it. It is like putting a hot PAF-type pickup in your Strat.

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

ive found the neck lil59 makes a great bridge pup with low output vintage type single coils. it still adds a bit of output and thickness but balances quite well volume wise

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

I notice that these will be 4-conductor. I wonder how Strat-like they get in parallel. That would be sweet if you could go from hot PAF to Strat with the flip of a switch.

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

I'm thinking these might be the ticket for my mahogany bodied G&L Legacy Tribute. Just gotta save a few bucks.

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

nice. congrats sd.

will this make my alder strat sound like my lespaul with pearly?

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

im going to say no. since there is way too much difference there. billy uses a graphic eq to make all the guitars sound as close to pearly as possible

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

nice! im stoked to try these too

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

Hi guys, is it possible to switch these pickups to single mode ? Thanks

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

I have a 96 Lone Star strat... it came with a Pearly Gates Plus Humbucker . It was good, but I ended up exchanging if for a SD 59/custom... I moved the PG+ to the neck of my 74 Les Paul (Custom/Custom on the bridge). The Strat now has a unique , almost Bell like sound With the 59/Custom in the bridge... add a little crunch/distortion and it is really good. When the PG+ was in the strat, it definitely had that Texas sizzle, but seemed a little more one dimensional to me... the 59/custom is more versatile..

I have the strat. a 74 Les Paul Custom, and a 17 PRS 24... the last 2 are classic beauties, But the strat I went a little Gaudy on :-) I was interested in the name Red Devil of these pickups for an obvious reason.. it has a carbon fiber neck and I added the Fet-FX leds for playing in low light (hard to see the black neck.)

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

Wow, that is quite a guitar! If you get the Red Devil set, come back and let us know how they sound!

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

A buddy of mine has a red devil bridge position on the way. I'll report back as soon as it arrives and he gets it installed.

Re: Introducing the new Red Devil for Strat Set!

Mine are due tomorrow. Now, I just have to figure out what to put them in.

You can put it in my Strat! :bigthumb:

Really interested in your thoughts. PGs are some of my favorite SD pickups, curious how this new set sounds.
