Introducing the Rail Series...

Hmm... might have to get a blackened Distortion neck to go with my Super D bridge if that's the case

the response of rails is different than screws/studs, i dont think its better or worse, but its different. i like options so im all for it

Personally, I've never found there to be an issue with string balance with rail pickups. Like whatsoever.

But admittedly, I rarely ever play clean. And even less on high output pickups.

Right? How awesome would that be?

Super awesome for sure. Most of the rail pups out there are high output and made for the bridge position. This is why I have the cool rails + hot rails on the neck and bridge in one of my strats.

It's crazy Viv Campbell had X2Ns in the neck and bridge for his Dio LP

ive found the a4 59n still has a nice chime to it, it looses a bit of the sharpness on on the high end and some of the big bottom that some people dont like.

Losing some of the bottom end for an LP is what I want. Sounds like the A4 59n would be a good pup for me.
For strat type guitars and Vs, I like the 59n as is.

Going to a rail means that they have to tweak the normal 'formula' so it sounds like a regular 59. That might mean magnets and wire.

I figured as much. Replacing poles with rails just won't cut it. It wouldn't sound like a 59n anymore. You got to tweak the other stuff to make it sound like a 59 still.

It does seem to have the JB vibe, but not quite, which is to be expected.

Seems to have less of the JB upper mid spike in this particular video.

I don't understand who this pickup is for. What do rails do that polepieces can't? Outside of how it looks, if I want to put a JB and a Jazz in my guitar, what will steer me towards the rail version instead of the standard models?

Generally speaking rail pickups tend to be better balanced in tone, with greater clarity and string to string definition. They capture a greater range of the strings vibration iirc.

While the bottom end is way better in the rails version, the pick attack and mid-range sounds completely different.

At the risk of sounding like a dick, that aint a JB.

I think the rails version will appeal to those who doesn't like that "mid range spike". The original sounds thicker with a lot more presence.
