Anybody else have an Invader in an alder axe? I just stuck one in a Charvel super strat, vintage trem, w/ swimming pool route. The combination of all of these adds up to a killer sounding metal axe.
I think the Invader just has a sound that appeals to you which is fine if it tends to your needs! I put the Invader in my guitar which is alder but didn`t work for me. I think its more of a personal sound indifference rather then a bad pickup. If it works for you then go with it man!!!!
The Invader being muddy just doesn't make sense to me. I've had this one in a million guitars, even a Les Paul, and no mud. Thick with squeally harmonics all over the place...
I had one in a Tom Delonge strat (alder, hard tail, rosewood board) and it sounded great in that axe. I havent like the Invader as much in any other combonation.
Not that its muddy........there was something about the clarity or definition that just didn`t click with me,and believe me,i`m into the heaviest stuff around like Necrophagist,Nile,Deadborn,Emperor,Behemoth,Morbid Angel ect.....
Yeah i know...and he also uses the Distortion and Full Shred!! Maybe its a combination of other things as well but with my equipment it just wasn`t cutting it!
Eh I'm not altogether too fond of the Invader. It's good for bright guitars, but it lacks clarity IMO. And for anything heavy I play, I seem to always gravitate to a mahogany body, in which the Invader completely muds out in.
You know I would really LOVE to try out an Invader, I reckon it would sound killer, but on the other hand I'm always extremely skeptical due to general consensus on this pickup.
I'm putting one in a guitar that I'm building which has a poplar body, maple neck/finger board. Can't wait to hear how it sounds. I've only played the invader in the Jackson Warrior which I believe has an alder body. Very nice.
