If you go to a hardware store like Ace hardware you can find dome headed, stainless steel, hex head screws just like the Invader uses in their parts drawers. Don't worry about the stainless steel part since a pole piece doesn't need to be magnetic, it only needs to be conductive.

Re: Invader silver pole pieces

I haven't tried SS pole pieces before but I thought it had to be magnetic in order to work. There is a magnetic alloy of Stainless Steel that I thought would work but it still seems less ferrous than typical pole pieces and was told to avoid going that route.

Re: Invader silver pole pieces

you could do it the easy way and get the synyster gates guitar, take the pickups out of it, then switch the pole pieces from those invaders to your invaders, then put the old / newly blackened invaders back in the gates guitar and sell said guitar.

you could even say it was a custom special edition with the regular pole pieces or something. factory one-off or something.

y'know i think Duncan needs to make covers for the Invader, with the black pole pieces sticking out thru 'em. Chrome rules.

Not saying you're right or wrong, but there's this from Seymours Q & A:

104. Can I replace the pole pieces on my Humbuckers?

You can change the pole pieces as long as they are a ferrous material (conduct a magnetic field). Do not use brass or non-ferrous stainless steel screws unless you want less output from the strings. Try keeping the same thread and diameter of the screw so you don’t damage your bobbin. The stud side of a humbucker carries a large portion of magnetic field to the strings. Using shorter pole piece screws will slightly brighten the sound of the pickup and longer screws tend to soften the sound. Using longer pole piece screws extend the magnetic field further out the bottom of the pickup and away from the strings.

It might not be a "must", but it appears as though it would alter the sound.

Edit: I just looked at those chrome-ish pole pieces for the first time. Those are cool. I might have to try something like that on my own Invader. :scratchch

Re: Invader silver pole pieces

Take a refrigerator magnet to the hardware store with you.
If the screws stick to the magnet, they're ok to use.

Some types of stainless steel are magnetic, some are not.

Re: Invader silver pole pieces

You CAN get them from Duncan. I emailed them a while ago asking for some and, like you, got no reply. I sold my Invaders cos I didn't like them.
Then about a month later I got a reply from a nice guy at Seymour Duncan apologising for the delay and offering to send me some stainless steel polepieces for free, if I wanted them.
So, keep trying!

Re: Invader silver pole pieces

Obviously they have to be (passive) magnetic.

And the amount of iron, the mix of magnetic and non-magnetic materials in the screws will have a very noticeable effect on sound. Doesn't have to be bad, but certainly enough to make yourself aware of and listen carefully when you first switch.

That's about right. Do take a magnet to the hardware store, it's what I do. Most stainless steel screws you can find in a hardware store are not magnetic, so make sure you have that magnet with you.
