Invader vs. Warpig

Re: Invader vs. Warpig

i think tim would stick a ceramic magnet under it, hook that up to a car batery, start wailing, set the guitar on fire, get himself burnt and as usual, end up in the ER.

i say warpig, but havent actualy used either, so this one doesnt count much, does it

Re: Invader vs. Warpig

One thing's for sure on the Warpig -- there wouldn't be any complaints about lack of beef when you split the coils!

Re: Invader vs. Warpig

Tim the "toolman" Taylor would use a DiMarzio X2N. Probably self modified with a few extra winds as well. - ooh ooh ooh !!!

Re: Invader vs. Warpig

It would be tough to make a passive humbucker with more output than the Invader. The coils are wound to over 16k (which is resonably hot), but the real beef comes from the fact that there are three large ceramic magnets in an Invader. It has more magnetism than any other pickup I have ever seen. We would have to do a millivolt comparison to really know for sure, though.

Absolutely. The wind is only part of it, the screw lugs are another, and the magnet yet another.

Maybe Slug, I've never used it but it seems less geared towards punch than compression. The Invader has a great full thick punch but isn't as "rude" or loud as the brighter X2N.

Where does the Dimebucker sit in the stack, output-wise?

I've only really messed with three true, high output humbuckers; the Dime, the Duncan Designed Detonator, and the Duncan Distortion (for like, a week).

Holy thread revival, Batman!

I don't know what a Warpig is, but the Invaders are one of my favorite Duncan pups. They slam, (with full fidelity), when asked. But when you switch to parallel, you find the PAF hidden inside. One of Duncan's best kept secrets.

I played a used Dot Studio at a GC recently that has an Invader in the neck slot. One of the best, velvety smooth jazz tones I've gotten when paired with a Tonemaster Deluxe.
